Day 9 - 30 in 30 Days - Indian Corn

Indian Corn
8"X10" watercolor

It was cool this morning.
Football season has started. So fall is in the air.
I am still playing with this loose technique.
I still tend to want to work it a little bit more.
Add a few more details. Tweak it just a bit!
PUT THE BRUSH DOWN

Day 8 - 30 in 30 Days Challenge - The Irish Blessing

Well, I missed day 7. I was helping a friend with her daughter's wedding.
It was a beautiful outdoor wedding and the weather was perfect.
The were peacocks and flowers and big trees (shade).
I officiated the service and it was blessing to unite the couple.

So with my mind still on weddings, I thought I would share
this is a painting. It was a commission I did last year.
My friend Laurie gave it to her friends as a wedding gift.
She gave me permission to make this available as prints.
It is called "The Irish Blessing"

"Bread-that this house may never know hunger,

Salt-that life may always have flavor,

Wine-that joy and prosperity may reign forever."

Prints are available in 5"x7" and 8"x10"

Day 4 - 30 in 30 Days - 2 Poppies Watercolor

2 Poppies
5"x7" watercolor on Arches paper

This style is a whole lot different for me.
No photo. No realistic detail. This is such a stretch.
But it is fun! I would love to know what you think.

30 Paintings in 30 Days Challenge - Day 2 - "Just Passin' Thru" Watercolor

JUST PASSIN' THRU
15"x22" watercolor on Arches paper

Several of my artist friends a part of
Leslie Saeta's 30 Paintings in 30 Days Challenge.
I thought I might give it a try. No painting for Day 1.
Day #1 was spent with my sweetie in the hospital.
He ended up with an angiogram and 2 stents in his heart.
We are home now. He is doing good. No damage to his heart.

So I am cheating just a bit. I painted this right before we
went to the ER. It is called "Just Passin' Thru".
The title is inspired by my friend, Renee's blog, "Just Passin' Thru"
The scissor-tailed fly catchers pass thru Texas during their migration.
They don't use birdhouses and, according to some old wives I know,
are a sure sign that  spring is here and it is safe to plant annuals.
This painting is a compilation of several photos. I was just
playing with composition.

Interested in purchasing this painting ?

Embellishing Edges Journal with Valerie

Shame on me for not posting this sooner.
I signed up for this class as soon as Valerie launched it.
That was May 26th.
*This is mine - not Valerie's*

I immediately watched the videos.
It was a few days before I made my book (June).

Then, I had to figure out what I was going to
put in my beautiful little journal.
I know! I will use my personal prayer and goal for 2013.
*Note - my prayer was not just "Create" *

I cut my edges (July). And then started my pen work.
That was the beginning of August.

I had to coat my pages with gel medium
and then let them dry.
Then decide the colors!!!

I finally started getting some color on the pages.

*There's the first part of the prayer*

Sometimes the washing is a gentle little bubble bath
and sometimes it is rub-a-dub-dub you're in for a scrub!!!

I used the colors of the rainbow as a reminder of his promises!
They are Yes and Amen!

Just a glimpse at my heart (the page on the left).
By this time I was getting ready to be finished.
Seriously, almost 3 months.
So, I used 2 of my gelli prints. One on the inside
of the front cover and the one with the daisies.

And this promise from Him from Ezekiel, I love!!!
Yes, He will!

So when I feel all wormy and in a dark place
and... well, you know! I have to remind myself...

Trust Him! He wants me to have a clean heart, too.
So I do my part and repent.
And He gets busy washing, renewing and restoring.

Here's the outside

Has a bit of 60's and 70's influence on it.
That's groovy cause I gave my heart to Jesus 41 years ago
during the Jesus Movement!

Thank you, Valerie for this outstanding mini-workshop!!!
